You can now have an extra-large SUV that isn’t a gas-guzzler. The hybrid 2024 Toyota Sequoia has remarkable standard features even in the base model, offering everything from advanced safety and driver’s aid technology to luxurious touches. Even though the 2024 Sequoia is in one of the most competitive segments of a very heated market, it still made the top ten of Car and Driver’s Best Full-Sized SUVs list.
Design
The 2024 Sequoia’s base model seats eight people. Standard features include a power tilting and sliding moonroof with sliding sunshade, leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel, and heated 8-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats with 2-way power-adjustable lumbar support. A tri-zone climate control system with air filtration, as well as an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a Homelink universal transceiver, are also standard.
Auto-dimming on the driver’s mirror and power-folding, heated side mirrors with reverse tilt-down, integrated turn signals, and blind-spot warning indicators are also included. The cargo area features multi-level adjustable shelves.
Performance
The lineup’s lowest trim has a standard 3.445-liter twin-turbo V6 engine delivering 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. The parallel hybrid system has an electric motor with 48 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i), sequential shift mode, and uphill/downhill shift logic is also standard.
Part-time 4-wheel drive is included, and the Sequoia has three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. This trim also features a standard integrated Trailer Brake Controller with Multi-Information Display and Trailer-Sway Control. It can tow up to 9,120 pounds. You also get trial subscriptions for Remote Connect, Service Connect, and Driver Connect services.
Technology
The 2024 Sequoia’s SR5 base model has a standard 8-speaker sound system and a free 3-month trial subscription for SiriusXM. An 8-inch touchscreen anchors the infotainment system, which features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. You also get a trial subscription for WiFi Connect, including a mobile WiFi hotspot.
